GREELEY, Co. – IBMC College Cosmetology students and staff volunteered their time and talent to assist in preparing nursing home residents of Life Care Center of Greeley for their “Senior Prom” Friday, April 27.

About 12 students and a supervising instructor from IBMC College’s Greeley campus at 2863 35th Ave. visited the facility from 3-4:30 p.m., pampering many of the residents with a range of beauty treatments, from nail care to hair styling and beard trimming.

Men and women of Life Care Center were excited to chat with IBMC’s young Cosmetology students and receive free-of-charge services. Several women opted to style their hair in classic 1940s and ‘50s styles with ribbons and curls.

The event, which featured live music and dancing, was one of many frequent events that Activities Director Blair Reynolds organizes for residents. It gave them an opportunity to let loose, dance and reminisce on their past dance experiences.

It was the first time IBMC College’s Cosmetology students and staff have visited Life Care Center, but Instructor Kathleen Bradshaw says students and staff would happily return in the future for another event at Life Care Center.

IBMC College offers fast-paced vocational education programs for careers in beauty, medical, business and legal professions. How to Balance Being a Parent and Going to College

How to Balance Being a Parent and Going to College

College can be a huge feat to begin with. Add being a parent in, and life can get extra complicated.

Still, there’s no better way to achieve a big life change than by going to college. It can allow you to increase your earning potential, advance your career, or pursue a personal passion. While having kids to take care of can make it more of a challenge, you shouldn’t let it hold you back.

Avoid Perfectionism

Not all students are the same, and you shouldn’t treat yourself like you are. Instead of spending all your time worrying about getting straight As, put an effort into getting all the work done and keeping your GPA up. As a parent, it’s important that you spend time with your kids—even if that means getting a B in a class.

Don’t be Afraid to Ask for Help

Your spouse, friends or family want you to succeed. Let them know what they can do to help while you work toward your degree or diploma. You might be surprised how much they’re willing to help with childcare, housework and cooking.

Tell Your Instructor You’re a Parent

Most instructors will understand that you face challenges in balancing obligations outside of school. Remember that your instructors are people too, and they know college is not the only thing going on in your life. Telling your instructors you are a parent can make them more sympathetic if a situation arises that might interfere with your coursework.

Take Time for Self-Care

It’s important to avoid burnout. Taking time to clear your head can be as simple as a 5-minute walk around the block or a phone call to a friend. Do what makes you feel good—whether it’s going for a run, watching a funny TV show or enjoying a cup of coffee. You might feel like you don’t have time for fun, but it’s well worth it when it comes to avoiding excessive stress.

Stay Organized

Planning can make the difference between a great week and a long, frantic stumble through seven days. Keep your time scheduled as far in advanced as you’re comfortable with—from when you’ll study, to appointments, to meet-ups with friends. Getting organized takes time, but it’s worth the peace of mind it can give you and your family.

IBMC College Announces New Shorter Massage Therapy Training Program

May 24, 2018

IBMC College is excited to announce it will be shortening its Therapeutic Massage Diploma program from 15 months to just 10 months starting July 2018.

The vocational college will begin offering the Therapeutic Massage Diploma program at all three of its N. Colorado campuses located in Fort Collins, Greeley and Longmont.

With total required credit hours decreasing from 61 to 46, the curriculum will change along with the program duration; Courses in which topics and training had crossover content have been combined, providing for a more holistic experience during lectures and hands-on technique training.

The reduction in program length stems from current market demand, as well as the College’s desire to remain competitive in the education marketplace.

Earlier this year, IBMC College reduced the program length of its Clinical Medical Assisting, Dental Assisting and Cosmetology diploma programs. The shorter programs have proven helpful for those students who cannot afford to spend a long time in school.

“It gives more students a realistic way to go to college. Quicker, personal investment-friendly options appeal to students who previously could not make this investment in themselves,” Steve Steele, CEO of IBMC College said.

IBMC College has been providing career training opportunities in northern Colorado for more than 30 years. From business, to law, medical and beauty careers, the College has helped thousands of students graduate with career prospects and preparedness for their chosen field.

June 1, 2018

IBMC College has begun a new articulation partnership with National American University (NAU) that will allow IBMC College graduates to pursue further education at NAU using college credits earned from IBMC.

Graduates from IBMC College’s certificate, diploma and associate degree programs can now transfer all of their college credits to National American University.

NAU is also offering a discount in tuition for those seeking an associate, bachelor’s or master’s degree upon completing their IBMC College education. The discount will reduce the tuition to $330 per credit hour, regardless of the listed credit cost, in all programs offered at NAU.

“A typical IBMC College graduate will go directly to work in the field they were trained,” IBMC College’s CEO, Steve Steele said. “Two or three years down the road, students may want to add to their IBMC College education by getting a bachelor’s degree.”

NAU offers online programs in Healthcare, Business and Beauty, complementing IBMC’s programs in Medical Assisting, Medical Billing and Coding, Dental Assisting, Therapeutic Massage, Business Administration and Accounting, Paralegal, Cosmetology, Hairstyling and Esthetician.

Steele explained that there are transfer paths created by the partnership for every program IBMC College offers.

“A Cosmetology grad can earn a bachelor’s in Health and Beauty Management at NAU. …A paralegal could use IBMC diploma credit hours toward a bachelor’s in Paralegal Studies,” Steele said.

IBMC College also announced this month it has shortened its Therapeutic Massage Diploma program from 15 months to just 10 months. This follows the reduction in program length for the college’s Medical Assisting, Dental Assisting and Cosmetology programs earlier this year.

IBMC College is enrolling now for its July 16, 2018 start date.
